Eco Warriors in Primary 4
This term in P4 our topic has been all about nature, we have been closely looking at minibeasts in particular, the importance of bees π in our environment. So far this term we have visited the local library to hear all about pollinators. We played games and planted flowers that are perfect for bees and insects. During our outdoor play sessions, we have made minibeast rock creatures, borrowed natural materials from the playground to inspire insects and we used chalk to draw minibeasts!
On Friday, we also visited Knockbreda Community Gardens. Volunteers explained to us how bees make honey and they showed us the hives where the Irish native bee lives! We discovered that there are 101 different species of bee in Northern Ireland. We were also lucky enough to do some pond dipping and we are now looking forward to continuing are topic focusing on the life cycles of frogs πΈ and butterflies. π¦ In class, we have been working on, ‘non chronological reports’ we were inspired by the bee hives and used their honeycomb hexagonal shapes to help us make our writing more appealing to a reader! Please have a look at all that we have been up to in P4! πΈππ»ππΈ
