WW2 Battle Scenes, Easter craft, VE Day celebrations and an Easter Egg Hunt with P5
P5 have worked very hard on their WW2 projects throughout the week. We started by looking at some previous projects then planned and designed our own battle scenes. The next stage involved us gathering various items to help create our terrain like egg boxes and small cereal boxes. We then added papier-mache to strengthen and help shape our landscape.
The children then had to add two, sometimes three, coats of paint before finally adding toy soldiers, fences, sandbags, flags and tanks to our WW2 battle scene.
Thank you parents for sending in items with your children - this helped a lot!
As today was the last day of our WW2 topic the children got to enjoy culinary delights such as Spam and corned beef sandwiches that they would have enjoyed in the 1940s. Food was rationed then so they also got to eat half a jam tart and oat biscuits.
P5 also managed to create lovely Easter wreaths with colourful Easter egg designs.
Finally, we went on an Easter Egg Hunt throughout the school. We crammed a lot in for three hours but the children thoroughly enjoyed the last day of the spring term. Happy Easter, everyone!
